Essex Warriors Wargames club has been in continuous existence since 1975. We have over 40 members, including gamers from across Essex and beyond, and enjoy playing a variety of tabletop miniatures games both historical and science fiction/fantasy. Our aim is to have fun enjoying the hobby.
We meet at Writtle Village Hall near Chelmsford on Sundays, usually twice a month. This year’s meeting dates are shown on our calendar page. On meeting days we open at 9:30 am and close by 5:00 pm or when the last game finishes, if earlier. The club also has a collection of scenery and gaming mats available for members’ use on meeting days.
Annual membership is £60 and the first meeting is free – so come and see us soon!
Historical Miniatures
The historical periods played at the club include Ancients, Medieval, High Renaissance, English Civil War, Napoleonics, American Civil War, Colonials, Spanish Civil War, WW2 and Moderns. Players are using all scales and many different rule sets, including Art de la Guerre (ADLG), Blood Red Skies, General de Brigade, General d’Armee, Saga, Lion Rampant, Bolt Action, DBM, and Principles of War.
Sci-Fi and Fantasy
We have a number of sci-fi and fantasy players playing games such as Frostgrave, Warhammer 40K, Judge Dredd, Warhammer, Rivet Wars, Warmachine, Malifaux, Dropzone Commander and X-Wing.
In short, whatever your table-top gaming tastes, there’s a good chance that someone at the club will share them!
